The most ingenious innovation was transforming Japan's double-layer film into a single-layer, thickened film, cutting costs in half while actually improving insulation. Farmers in Shouguang, Shandong, were the first to reap the benefits, growing cucumbers with blossoms and spines in winter—a product city dwellers snapped up eagerly.
After the year 2000, China's plastic greenhouses truly took off! People in Xinjiang invented wind- and sand-resistant “hump-shaped” greenhouses, while experts in Northeast China developed “solar greenhouses” with built-in heating systems. Even Israeli experts praised these innovations. Today, 70% of the world's plastic greenhouses are in China. Our vegetable farmers use 5G smart temperature control systems, allowing them to “cover” their greenhouses with a single tap on their phones. This technology has even been exported to the Netherlands!
